Furnace safety & CO checks · Sacramento area

Comfort includespeace of mind.

Heating is only part of the picture. A professional furnace evaluation gives you a chance to discuss equipment condition, venting, and carbon monoxide concerns before another heating season.

A sounding CO alarm
needs action now.

Leave the home immediately and call 911 from outside. Follow emergency responders’ instructions. Do not wait for a routine service appointment.

A professional look
at the bigger picture.

For a non-emergency concern, discuss a furnace evaluation with a qualified professional. The scope depends on the equipment, access, and reason for the visit.

A check is a snapshot of the conditions evaluated. It complements ongoing maintenance and CO alarms; it does not replace them.

Equipment condition

Discuss the furnace’s history and any visible condition concerns. Share previous recommendations and service records if available.

Combustion & venting

Ask about the appropriate assessment for your fuel-burning equipment, including how combustion products leave the home.

CO concerns

Explain any non-emergency concern and ask what measurements or checks are included. A household alarm and a service evaluation perform different roles.

A clear explanation

Review what was checked, what could not be evaluated, and any recommended repairs or follow-up before deciding on next steps.

An alarm is part
of your home’s routine.

Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless. Keep CO alarms installed and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions, including testing and replacement guidance.

Tell your technician about all relevant fuel-burning equipment and any concern you have. If an alarm sounds or you suspect CO exposure, get outside and seek emergency help.

Talk with AAA.

Can I smell carbon monoxide?

No. Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless. Do not rely on smell or a normally operating furnace to decide whether a home is safe. If an alarm sounds or you suspect an exposure, get outside and call 911.

Does a furnace check replace a carbon monoxide alarm?

No. Professional equipment evaluation and correctly installed, maintained CO alarms serve different roles. Follow the alarm manufacturer’s placement, testing, and replacement instructions.

Can a service visit guarantee there will never be a CO issue?

No. An evaluation reflects the conditions and scope checked at that visit. Conditions can change, and other fuel-burning appliances can also be sources of carbon monoxide. Keep alarms maintained and arrange follow-up for new concerns.

Can I book a regular appointment if my CO alarm is sounding?

Treat a sounding CO alarm as an emergency. Leave the home immediately, call 911 from outside, and follow emergency responders’ instructions. A routine service request is not an emergency response.
