Heat pumps and mini splitsin Sacramento

Thinking about a heat pump—or trying to get yours working properly? Start with a conversation about your home, your current equipment, and what comfortable should feel like.

When the days warm up

Cool inside.

A heat pump moves heat from inside your home to the outdoors to provide cooling.

When the nights cool down

Warm inside.

In heating mode, it reverses that direction, moving heat indoors.

New to heat pumps?
Start with the fit.

The best starting point is your home—not a model number. Equipment selection should account for comfort needs, the building, and the systems already in place.

Rooms & routines

Discuss rooms that run hot or cold, additions, daily schedules, and the comfort problems you want to solve.

Ducts & equipment location

Ducted and ductless arrangements serve different needs. Available space, airflow, access, and placement all shape the plan.

Electrical readiness

The equipment requirements must be checked against the home’s electrical capacity, with any needed circuit or panel work included in the scope.

The complete proposal

Review the selected system, associated work, commissioning, and any applicable permit responsibilities before proceeding.

Already have one?
Let’s get it working well.

Unexpected cycling, changes in comfort, unfamiliar noise, or trouble switching between heating and cooling are useful reasons to arrange a professional evaluation.

Tell us what changed.

Share which operating mode is affected, when the symptom appears, and any recent service. The evaluation can then focus on the controls, airflow, and equipment operation that relate to your concern.

Have a question about your project?
Talk with AAA.

Does a heat pump provide both heating and cooling?

Yes. A heat pump moves heat between indoors and outdoors, changing direction for heating or cooling. The right configuration depends on the home, climate, and selected equipment.

How does a ductless mini split differ?

A ductless mini split connects an outdoor unit to indoor room units rather than distributing air through whole-home ducts. Room layout, sizing, placement, condensate drainage, and electrical needs determine whether it is a suitable option.

Are heat pump rebates guaranteed?

No. Check current utility and state program requirements before selecting equipment or starting work. Eligibility, participating-contractor requirements, application timing, and available funding vary; ask AAA which programs may apply to your address.

Can a heat pump use my existing ducts?

Sometimes. Duct condition, sizing, layout, and airflow need to be evaluated. Existing ducts are one part of the assessment; they do not automatically make a system a good match.

Will I need electrical work for a heat pump?

Possibly. The selected equipment’s electrical requirements should be compared with the home’s existing circuits and panel capacity. Discuss any needed electrical work before settling on the installation scope.

What if my heat pump works in one mode but not the other?

Tell us which mode is affected, the thermostat setting, and when the problem began. A professional evaluation can check the controls and system operation. Avoid opening equipment or attempting refrigerant repairs.
